WordPress-mu updated to 2.9.2

We’ve updated the wordpress-mu to version 2.9.2

This update is contains a few bug fixes along with a security fix for a problem where deleted posts that were still in the Trash could be viewed if the url could be guessed.

New WordPress Version 2.9.1

We have upgraded this wordpress-mu installation to version 2.9.1.

Along with the usual selection of bug fixes there is a selection of new features, most of which can be found here of which the most interesting are

  1. Global undo/”trash” feature, which means that if you accidentally delete a post or comment you can bring it back from the grave (i.e., the Trash). This also eliminates those annoying “are you sure” messages we used to have on every delete.
  2. Built-in image editor allows you to crop, edit, rotate, flip, and scale your images to show them who’s boss. This is the first wave of our many planned media-handling improvements.
  3. Easier video embeds that allow you to just paste a URL on its own line and have it magically turn it into the proper embed code, with Oembed support for YouTube, Daily Motion, Blip.tv, Flickr, Hulu, Viddler, Qik, Revision3, Scribd, Google Video, Photobucket, PollDaddy, and WordPress.tv (and more in the next release).

We also have the following plugins enabled for all sites

  1. Broken Link Checker – Checks your posts for broken links and missing images and notifies you on the dashboard if any are found.
  2. Twitter for WordPress – Displays your public Twitter messages for all to read. Based on Pownce for WordPress by Cavemonkey50.
  3. WordTwit – Posts updates to Twitter about entries automatically. Includes many configuarble options, statistics and more.
  4. WPtouch iPhone Theme – A plugin which formats your site with a mobile theme for the Apple iPhone / iPod touch, Google Android, Palm Pre and other touch-based smartphones.
  5. Cookies for Comments – Sets a cookie that must exist for a comment to be allowed through

Which twitter widget to use we leave for you to choose the one that best suits your theme, not all themes display each of the widgets in quite the same way and some of the available themes have their own twitter widgets.

Outage Notification – 2010/04/04

The machine hosting the tidyblogs site will be rebooted during the afternoon of Sunday 4th April.

The outage should be only be a few minutes but needs to be taken to incorporate security updates.

New Plugins – WPTouch & WordTwit

We’ve added a pair of new plugins to the site.

The first is WPTouch which by default automatically converts your blog into a mobile friendly look if viewed from an iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, Palm Pre or Blackberry Storm mobile device.

The second is a companion to the first, WordTwit, which integrates posting of twitter updates when you make a blog post.  It can also provide a widget to display your recent tweets, though this may not look as good as one designed for your particular choice of theme.
